Shawn Wells is the Chief Executive Officer of Mission IT and a cybersecurity and systems engineering executive focused on high-consequence national security environments. At Mission IT, he leads the development of mission-ready systems for Operational Technology control systems, defense weapon systems, and high-speed, high-capacity machine learning platforms. These platforms support near–real-time intelligence ingestion, data sharing, data fusion, and machine learning workloads, where latency, throughput, security, and resilience are mission-critical. His background spans offensive and defensive cyber operations, secure cloud and container platforms, automated system hardening and compliance, cross-domain architectures, and high-performance computing, and his work has been featured in Dawn of Cyber Warfare, a documentary on the U.S. Government’s development and use of offensive cyber capabilities.

At Mission IT, he leads the design and delivery of mission-ready systems for Operational Technology control systems, defense weapon systems, and high-speed, high-capacity machine learning platforms supporting Intelligence Community and defense missions. These platforms are engineered for near–real-time intelligence ingestion, data sharing, data fusion, and machine learning workloads, where latency, throughput, security, and operational resilience are mission-critical.
Shawn’s technical background spans offensive and defensive cyber operations, secure cloud and container platforms, automated system hardening and compliance, cross-domain architectures, and high-performance computing systems operating under stringent security and reliability constraints. Reflecting his time in the U.S. Intelligence Community, Shawn was predominately featured in “Dawn of Cyber Warfare,” a documentary about the U.S. Government’s creation and use of offensive cyber weapons.
Shawn spent 14 years at Red Hat, serving as Chief Security Strategist for the U.S. Public Sector, where he was the senior-most leader accountable for the cybersecurity posture and government readiness of all Red Hat technologies, products, and consulting engagements delivered to the U.S. Government. In this role, he led foundational efforts securing enterprise Linux, container, and Kubernetes platforms for sensitive and classified environments, and declassifying and documenting secure implementation patterns at scale.
He has also held senior executive roles including Managing Director at Accenture Federal Services, leading Zero Trust, cloud architecture, and identity management initiatives, and Global Vice President of Solution Architecture at CrowdStrike, where he led global technical organizations supporting large-scale, mission-critical cybersecurity operations.
